Adopt a German Shepherd Dog / Mixed

German Shepherd Dog / Mixed Dog

Titan *Tropic Litter* Puppy. Medical Hold the Dog needs a home

German Shepherd dogs, as well as the other herding breeds that we have in rescue, are highly active, energetic, working breeds. They require considerable vetting, exercise, socialization, training, leadership and mental stimuli in order to be well-adjusted, well-balanced, and well-mannered dogs.

If you are new to German Shepherds (and other herding breeds), please research the breed to make sure this is the dog for you. We ask that you consider the time and financial commitment that your German Shepherd (or other herding breed) dog will require before applying for one. Please review the section on our website (www.heartlandgsrescue.org) "Is a HUGS Dog Right for You?" for additional information.

We recently rescued Titan and his 3 brothers from a SD reservation. Reservation dogs lead a very hard life, with no shelter, little food, and no vet care. Many of them die on the reservation due to accidents, deprivation, and/or sickness, among other causes. Fortunately for Titan, he is one of the lucky ones, as he got out safely, and he will now get to experience life as a beloved family pet.

Titan is an adorable 3.5 month-old puppy, and the only thing Titan loves more than playing, is napping afterwards! He’s very energetic, great with dogs and little kids. He’s mastered the stairs and is making good progress with house-training. His favorite toys are shoes, especially when they’re on your feet, so he needs plenty of appropriate toys to chew on. Like any puppy, he needs to be watched closely. He loves any place as long as it’s next to you and doesn’t mind his crate. He sleeps through most nights. He's as fearless as he is curious. He loves to play and cuddle with the household dog, and would love to have a playful dog buddy in his forever home :). Titan is a fabulous puppy, who would be an excellent fit for an active adopter who is excited about training, socializing, and being active with an awesome pup!

We do not know what the Tropic Litter pups are mixed with. Our best guess is that they are herding breed mixes. These adorable little guys will make great additions to active families that will pamper them, but who will also work with them, as they are smart pups who will need leadership, and plenty of activity and mental stimulation. This is true of all of the breeds that we rescue :).

Reminder: Even if you exercise and play with your dog daily in your fenced yard, please remember that, you MUST still take your dog out on daily walks and outings, in order to work on his/her leash skills, manners, and social skills

Please review the information in the "About Us" and "Adopt" sections on our website (www.heartlandgsrescue.org), as it contains useful information about the breed, adoption fees, the adoption process and our requirements, and how meeting the dogs works.
